The City of Foz do Iguaçu is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, not only because of the Iguazu Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, but also because of the local fauna and flora, amazing trails, fantastic food and friendly people. If Foz do Iguaçu is your next destination, here are some good tips on what to bring with you to avoid any problems during your stay.
First of all, remember that Brazil’s climate is temperate, so the weather varies from one region to another. The northern region of the country is really hot and wet, while the southern region is a lot more cold and dry (with a few exceptions, being Foz do Iguaçu one of them).
Foz do Iguaçu is really hot and dry, so it’s recommended to take light clothes, tank tops, cargo shorts, skirts and boardshorts are really common in the city. Do not forget your sunglasses as the sun shines the whole day. Once you arrive in Foz go to a supermarket and buy a pair of Havaianas, the brazilian flip flops; they are comfortable, popular and affordable in Brazil. If your destination is only Foz do Iguaçu, do not bring heavy coats or sweaters, even during the winter a single sweatshirt or a warm jacket will do. If you wish to save some space, buy your toiletries here since it’s just as cheap and it will allow you to travel even lighter. Bring a comfortable pair of shoes for walking – the Iguassu Falls has several trails and some city tours and activities require a lot of walking.
Take a copy of your personal documents such as Passport, Social Security Card, Visa and any other identification you may have and keep it with you, just in case your luggage is lost. Brazil has no restrictions regarding visas and permissions.
Remember to exchange some money and get Reais, the local currency – the traders here always want to make their own exchange rate and you will end up losing money if you try to pay them with dollar or euro.
